Ok so you can tell from the post count that I mostly read others thoughts but I kinda need some advice.

So I have a rock river middy, the elite car ute2.  It has this rear iron sight built in so I'm fretting about whether I will be ok looking through it to see the optic.  I'm thinking I want an Aimpoint and leaning towards a T-1 (I am of course here for suggestions so feel free)

I thought it would be cool to have it raised like on a larue LT660 (the tall one) but would that be tall enough for me to not have to look through the iron?  I would really like it to be raised but hollow so I could use the irons normally if needed if that makes sense.

I don't follow the whole witness, co-witness, 1/3 co-witness so if someone wants to educate me that would be cool.

Anyone else have this upper and run an optic...thoughts?

This thread will explain cowitness.

IMHO the tall LT-660 would be the best choice with your fixed rear. Lower 1/3 cowitness so your irons will block less of the sight window but still be visible in the lower part of the sight window when you want to use them. If I understand what you are asking you would not want a mount so high the entire sight window would be above the irons on a hollow mount. That would be way too tall to get comfortable cheek position and unnecessary. The LT-660 setup works great. The sight height is the same as any other upper so there is nothing unique except that the sight is fixed,
