Hey guys,
I desperately need a new trigger in my new AR15. I'm keeping this lower versatile and therefore have decided on a single stage trigger for my needs which don't extend over 200yds, but do require burst successive shots. I have been looking at the geissele sd3g at $240. But recently noticed the Velocity 3lb SS trigger for nearly half the cost, with few, but all positive comments/reviews. Of course there's also the timney route (which apparently is very similar to the velocity), and others. While looking for performance I am also looking for a good ratio of performance:cost. Please throw in your opinion!! Thanks! velocity trigger |

I'm also reading good things about the hiperfire EDT. I have a spikes Battle trigger with JP enhanced reliability springs on my "precision" 5.56 rifle build. I'm leaning toward an ALG ACT or hiperfire EDT for my current project (300 bo SBR). Nothing I can identify wrong with the spikes, just want to try different to know more. |

Versatility just meaning a trigger that can allow for quick burst firing wit a low reset, and perform well at moderate distances when it needs to. I may also use it for 3gun. I agree 3lbs is on the light end and Ideally I was more in the mindset of 4lbs, which also puts me a little off from the ALG ACT which is about 6lbs I believe? I think the spikes is even more isn't it? Thanks for the input thus far! |

1/8" is longer than some mil spec triggers. SD3G is about .06 reset. American Gold is under .03. Quoted:

I've been happy with my POF 4.5 lb, single-stage. Very smooth, crisp, and less than 1/8" travel between break and reset. 1/8" is longer than some mil spec triggers. SD3G is about .06 reset. American Gold is under .03. Thanks for this info! |

+1 to this. I tried the Geissele SD3G trigger for fast double taps with my 5.56 rifle. It was OK but with the light spring it tended to bump fire. Then I switched to a Hiperfire 24C. Pricy but well worth it. With the middle-weigh springs installed it releases with about 2.5 lbs of pressure, but for some reason is not prone to bump fires. It has a short, smooth take up, a "no break" release and a very short reset. Similar to the SD3G but it is vastly superior in every way.
I've begun to appreciate that the crisp release featured on conventional one and two stage triggers tends to induce a small amount of disturbance to the point of aim, while the smooth release of the Hiperfire triggers (as well as GI AR and Mosin triggers) mostly eliminates that effect. My last time out with my 5.56 rifle, I shot 10 rounds into under 3/4" at 100 yards, in less than a minute. Smooth is the right word to describe it. - CW |

The ALG and Spikes are menat to give you a cleaner trigger, not a liughter one. The ALG EDT comes with two springs. One for a 4.5# pull and the other 5.5# pull. Or so the internet says. I haven't used one, but that may be the next purchase after a BCG. |

Thanks for the replies guys! I looked up and checked out every single trigger mentioned in this thread and compared them. i was really contemplating the JP, and I still may get it for a different lower, and I also was very interested in the hiperfire Edt and especially the 24.
I also considered the ALG ACTS but I was weary of the longer reset and a bit heavy pull (same for the spikes battle). I also looked at the POF (the drop in non-EFP) version, but I saw some mixed and some positive reviews and decided to hold off. I ofcourse would love the Sd3g but decided to keep my budget lower after some careful thinking.. (I bought too much crap lately) In the end I actually contacted Velocity (the OP link) to inquire about the the reset distance, to my shock, Tom, the owner, maker, etc, the same guy who ran production at Timney replied with "about .065". I decided for $130 it would be worth a shot and I could have myself either a hidden treasure or a poopy shoe... I guess I'll find out!!! Kolme |

Kolme Since I'm chasing after a trigger, I'd be interested to hear a report on it. |

Since I'm chasing after a trigger, I'd be interested to hear a report on it. I plan on doing exactly that! It's a pretty new trigger line with a pretty well known maker (Tom Vehr). It was featured at the shot show, although many triggers were, including the ELF (another trigger I'm interested in). Keep your eyes on this article which is reviewing the Velocity and other triggers 2015 shot show triggers -TAG |
