I bought a tasco 6x24x44 scope and am armalite scope base for it to attach to my flat top 20' upper.  i took it out today and couldn't get the crosshairs to drop down to where my shots were hitting at all.  how can I adjust or mount my scope to get the front to come down allowing it to be adjustable with in the right range? thanks guys!

how far were you zeroing and were you adjusting the right way?

You POI will depend upon several things:

1) the height of the mount above the bore (if more than 2 ", you will see the bullets print low up to about 50 yards.)

2) the distance from which you are firing. You should make an attempt to boresight first, either using a laser collimator or cartridge laser.  This will tell you if the mounts need adjustment, too.  General rule is to start at either 25 or 50 yards and finish up at 100.

3) if the boresighting attempt shows that your POI will be more than 6-8 MOA off the line of sight through your scope, then you may need to adjust the mounts.  Also, be sure that you didn't buy a scope base with a built in MOA bias.

4) I have seen some scopes that had reticle adjustment malfunctions.  Hopefully, this isn't the case, but it does happen.

5) Of course, you should look at the twist rate of your barrel, then ensure that it matches up to the bullet weight you are using, to ensure proper stabilization in flight.

Hope all this helps

Started off at 25 yards trying to get it to hit paper.  with the scope set to zero and zero on both knobs,  it was hitting about 1/2 right and 8 inches lower than the crross hairs.  i checked my mount, checked the scope's adjustments.  it was doing ok.  I am wondering if they may have installed the barrel with a slight cant downward.  i was working on checking with a level last night for a while trying to get things in line.  i added a little bit of paper under the scope on the rear mount to try and get it to move up.  Wondering if this is going to help.  thanks again!

If it is hitting 8 inches lower @ 25 yds, then move to 50, and adjust the scope "up" about 32 clicks......this is presuming that your scope reticle adjustment is 1/4 MOA @ 100 yds.  @ 50, it will be 1/8, so this should move the POI up about 4 inches.  If that is what happens, and you are 4 " low @ 50, then you are home free.

I would keep it 1-2" low @ 50, so that you should be 1" high at 100 or so.  Simply move the reticle adjustment about 16 more clicks "up."

If you have already tried adjusting the crosshairs up by 48 clicks and you have run out of adjustment, then it is your mount or, heaven forbid, your barrel.  him"
Good luck!

don't tell me that you just put the scope on the rifle and set the adjustments to zero and are expecting it to shoot perfect hopefully i'm reading you wrong .......but you have to use the adjustment knobs to initially zero the scope.

No I was trying to sight it in.  I got it on my rifle.  Set up a target at 25 yards.  shot at it.  checked shots and tried too get it on paper.  it was extremely low.  I have been having problems with my upper i recieved and have been wondering what it could be.  I am going to send it back this week to allow the manufacturer to check her out.  she wasn't wanting to feed either.  ah well.
