New first build and this is the part I need help on.
This is what I would like to have: 16" mid length fixed A2 FSB pinned standard barrel, maybe lightweight. nitride preferred, chrome lined ok CHF if possible 1:8 or 1:7 twist Do I need to be concerned with the height of a rear flip up sight? Do I need to be concerned with feed ramps? Trying to keep this as a budget build but the barrel looks to be the most expensive but the one I don't want to upgrade later on. Looks like I'm at $300+ Other options welcome as long as it has a FSB and mid gas. I have an Aero upper and lower, and LPK. Eyeing the PSA premium BCG, and their enhanced FCG. My goal was to pick decent budget parts and upgrade a few parts down the road. Upgraded parts would be spares and I can see what the upgrade actually does. Present AR is a DD v7.0 and would assume parts to be interchangeable. Side rant...why are ambi safeties so expensive...  son is a lefty and wanted to make this at least half way lefty.

I am thinking I need a two piece to attach after barrel install. I understand I will have to grind off the guard retainer ring. I think I may have an issue with barrel length with the flash hider not pinned or welded. I think I may be going about this the wrong way. My intentions were to actually build it not buy completed upper and lower and install two pins. Thank you all for the rec's and Nathan for the ref. Looks promising if I can work out my other issues. Will all A2 FSB accept a bayonet? |
