I know it is a Colt SP1 Carbine. It looks like it was cut down to 11.5 at some time, then had an extended flash hider pinned on.
Look at the front sight. There is a threaded allen set screw that I think goes all the way to the gas tube. The only thing I can think of is that it was once on a F/A gun and instead of drilling a larger gas port they opened up the front???? I have no idea. I have heard that a few companies modified 16" barrels when you could not get any 11.5 due to military use. My NoDak 16A1 lower will be ready in a few days and we'll see if it cycles.
