Picked up a couple of lowers before a few months back and immediately built one up with a 16" middy upper from BCM as seen below...
Right now that's my main rifle and its sibling is waiting to be built into... I just cannot decide. That's where you folks come in, I'm looking for the most convincing reason to build one way or another (or maybe just a pic of a setup that is so sweet I just obviously need to copy it...)
Currently the areas I am lacking in in my overall firearms collection would be long range rifles (that middy and a scoped FAL are my best choices for anything even approximating "long" distances at the moment) and short barreled weapons for close-quarters application (need to get off my ass and get a stamp or two...). Note that AR-wise I also have an older Bushy M4gery that is set up as a KISS rifle right now.
I have been thinking, without too much thought into specific parts, of going a few different possible routes:
-Long range setup (SPR, SDM-R, etc. as inspiration).
-Setting it up as a pistol and then SBR'ing it.
-Been looking at 6.5 and 6.8 as well though I presently do not have the capability to roll my own (no space), I like to shoot my guns a LOT ($$$), and I don't hunt so this would strictly be for punching holes in paper and SHTF.
I'm open to other build suggestions as well
Part of the equation on making my decision is being able to find the parts I need for the build, though really the barrel ass'y is the issue, everything else I either have or can get easy enough.
I realize that finding exactly what I want in the immediate future might be a bitch, but a few vendors have a some good if not inexpensive barrels available at the moment, and I can certainly wait to go get just the right thing as well.
So what sayeth the hivemind? Which way should I go with this lonely lower I have sitting here..? Feel free to be as vague or specific as you like. Say which way you'd go generally or post pics and a detailed list of parts you would use, I'm fine with whatever - I'm mostly curious as to WHY you would decide to build it up the way you'd choose to, faced with the same decision.

Here is what I am thinking for you and me as well.
I am thinking a 16" 6.8 from Cardinal, flat top, railed.
Insight MX6 and/or Aimpoint/Eotech
Along the build lines of a LE M4, with extras and also 6.8 instead of .223.
