I am planning on buying my first 308 ar rifle.  I have owned numerous .223 ar-15's  I have between $1200 and $1500 to spend.  I would like to keep it closer to the $1200.  Right now I am looking at the Bushmaster Enhanced ORC, the Ruger SR762 and a Rock river operator.  I really like the ability of the first two to use the new P-mags.  Not 100% sold on the Rock river and FN mags yet.  which ever gun I decide on I will mount a Leupold patrol scope on it in a one piece base and I want to have fold down iron sights.

If you can find the Ruger in that price range I would buy it. It already has adjustable gas block, folding sights and a decent rail.

I would take a look at the DPMS G2 line,  I'm going to grab a G2 lite hunter when I find the right price, 20 inch barrel, upgraded trigger, takes PMAGs and under 8 lbs.

Rugers are way to heavy in the front end for my liking. Rock rivers are nice. Metric mags are about $5 more than a p mag.

Ruger SR-762 is the best choice because of the adjustable piston system. You can shut it off and shoot subsonic single shot or adjust it to shoot 220 grain hammers and anything in between.
