Alright AR guru's help me decide on a scope.
I am setting up a post ban A2 Bushmaster 20" target model. I have the tri rail picatinny handle mount already on the rifle. I am waiting on my bi pod and the picatinny rail for the handguard. Give me some ideas on a scope for this rifle. My plans are to make it something to take to the range and plink maybe 200 yards max. I will also use it as a coyote rifle on the farm.

I have been surfing eBay for scopes for a couple of weeks now. I have checked out the NCStar scopes and they fit into my budget better than some of the others. What do you think on those. I know that you get what you pay for but I do not want to sink a big chunk of change into a scope.

E-mail the folks over at SWFA with your specs and what you want to do.  They have been exceptional with recommendations for me.  What I find most impressive is that they never push me towards the high end models, no matter what I tell them my budget is.

DO NOT BUY NCSTAR! THEY ARE PRICED CHEAP FOR A REASON!

I bought a 3x9 power scope;  thinking it would be a 'baseline' scope. I was wrong. At high magnification, it was VERY blurry. That doesn't matter though: It simply didn't hold zero from one range trip to the next.

POS all the way. Save your bux and buy a real scope.

The Bushnell elite 3200 is a nice scope thats in the $200 range. I have a 3-9x40 on my Winchester 70 in .223

I'd recommend the 10x fixed for an AR on a budget.

Elite 3200 mil-dot

For $500 then go Leupold MK2

I am using Tasco's 6x24x40 on my WOA varminter and my Savage 10 FP LE. Cheap, 100 bucks, fairly good optics and holds zero with no problems.

Keep an eye on Midway.com  I picked up a Nikon 6.5-24 for half price there.  They have awesome periodic sales on optics.  Do online research and figure out what you want.  More than likely you will be able to pick up a Burris, Nikon, Leopold, etc for a way good price.

I really like Sightron scopes.  The SI 3-9x40 is in the $100 range at wholesalehunter.com and I love using it.  The SII series has a good rep too.

Do not buy anything NCStar.  It is a waste of funds on anything but a cheap air rifle.

definitely check out SWFA, I just got a Aimpoint compc3 from them I won on ebay and they shipped realyl fast and it was a very smooth transaction.  Also since they sell on ebay you can use the live.com rebate when its being offered.  So I got the sight with the 30% live.com discount which made it not hurt too much.

Stay away from NCStar!!!

Check out Bushnell banner ($100'ish), Sightron, Burris Fullfield II (sub $200), Bushnell 3200 ($200'ish), Leupold vx-ii ($300'ish). I looked at and researched them al about a year ago and went with the Burris in 3-9x w/ free binocs approx $180. Make sure you get a good set of rings or mount.

SWFA has a nice selection but they sure have high prices!!!!
Optics planet have them beat by 50 bucks on a lot of stuff.
But, I called optics planet and got put on hold too, so I hung up. They must be busy this time of year!

Take a peek at the Bushnell Elite 4200. They are excellent scopes.

Right now I'm looking at the Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5-30 x 50mm. It's hard to be that much magnification.

Well, after a coupe of weeks of research I decided on a scope. Tonight I ordered a Simmons Prohunter Master 6-21X44 with the target turrets. It will have the Mil-Dot reticle and matte finish. I also ordered the standard Simmons rings to go with it. I am hoping to have it by Christmas so I will have time to sight it in while I am off from work.
