I just got a bushnell 3200 elite, 10X40. I also got the burris tactical rings for it. I am mounting it on a flat top AR. I have it on right now, tested the eye relief and figured out where I want everything. I have never mounted a scope before. Is it as simple as making sure the scope is vertical and hast the proper eye relief. Then just tightening the mounts? Few pointers would be good. |
| I use a level on the flat top upper and get that level. Then put the level on the top elevation turret cap and level it then tighten everything down. If you have a picatiny handguard or gas block that works well if it is level with flat top. Also, alot easier if you have something to hold the gun steady. |
| getting the right amount of tensin on the screws is tricky wothout a torque wrench. But I do smal turns on each screw and zig zag around the scope that way. I also tap the reciever with a screwdriver butt just in case there is any tension that might settle with the vibration. (probably not, but just in case). I get them tight. then later check them again and check one last time after the first outing. Then occassionally if ithink about it. I've never had one come loose, but it's possible. |

3 choices: - Buy higher rings (usually need extra high, but whatever gives you a centerline around 1.3-1.5" above the receiver). This may not give enough eye relief if you need the scope further forward. - Buy an extended rail. There are a bunch available, but if you're on a budget, you can't beat YHM. - Buy a one-piece mount. They can give both height and forward eye relief, and come in a huge assortment of prices and styles.
