As much as I'd like to have nice gas blocks like those, my budget was much more limited. I went with Parallax Tactical's low pro adjustable block for $40:

I just want to get the most out of the barrel I can. What will be the intended purpose of the rifle? Dedicated bench shooter..... go adjustable. All purpose rifle......use the one you already have. Adjustable gas blocks are good for tuning a rifle to reduce recoil. Also used with Suppressors. |

I just put one of the Syrac Ordnance on a new barrel but it has not felt a single blast of gas. I also have this JP on another new barrel which has also never farted.
I like the size of the Syrac and the adjustment.. The JP is $11 cheaper |

Unless you're going to run a suppressor I wouldn't even bother.
Standard gas blocks work great. If you want to upgrade (money burning a hole in your pocket) send it off to get your standard gas block pinned in place. Set screws are fine, but a serious self-defense rifle needs to be pinned. The clamp on gas block (adjustable or not) is much better than set screws. |

With the Griffin Armament M4SD2 Flashcomp and the SLR Sentry 6 GB I'm ready to step up into the suppressor game when the time comes. |

Time will tell how it holds up. When did you buy that? It's always out of stock, at least for the last six months or so. For a budget, I have an Anderson that has worked very well. |
| That NI Tactical gas block looks pretty sexy. I don't see any info/text at all about it on their website. I don't know if it's their website or my work computer is blocking something... Anybody know what their .625" gas block weighs? Does the adjustment have clicks/detents like the SLP Sentry blocks? |
