I have it down to two:

JP -SENTRY 7 CLAMP ON ADJUSTABLE GAS BLOCK

Or

SENTRY 7 CLAMP ON ADJUSTABLE GAS BLOCK

I have a new 16" mid length faxon barrel on order.

It will e going on this riffle

It will have the same handguard. Current gas block in one with set pins not dimpled.

I think I should go with climb on style this go.

What says the hive?

I have two of the sentry 7 clamp on, and a Syrac .750 clamp on they work fine.

I think I'm might try one of these next.

I like the black one

As much as I'd like to have nice gas blocks like those, my budget was much more limited.    I went with Parallax Tactical's low pro adjustable block for $40:
http://parallaxtactical.com/collections/ar-15-gas-blocks/products/pxt-super-light-low-profile-front-adjust-gas-block-750

I've only fired it to function test and sight in (about 40 rounds), but so far I'm pleased with my purchase.  Time will tell how it holds up.

I thought about titanium, but it would be for flash only, which does not seem worth the extra money.

I am even second guessing if I need an adjustable, or just go with the block I have already.   I just want to get the most out of the barrel I can.

I too am crunching the numbers, thus do I really need one.  If I do go this route I want to get a solid one and will pay the extra for it

Clamp on or set screw?  I like set screw myself.

What will be the intended purpose of the rifle?

Dedicated bench shooter..... go adjustable.

All purpose rifle......use the one you already have.

Adjustable gas blocks are good for tuning a rifle to reduce recoil.  Also used with Suppressors.

I picked up a Superlative adjustable for my faxon 18" that I just built.  It's hard to find adjustable .625 blocks on the cheap.

Depends whether you're running a rail over or behind the block. For longer hand guards i use set screw, short rails, clamp on.

This is one of the ones I am looking at for my build. Seems to have good reviews and you really cannot beat the price of it.

Intended use is be have and hunting. I reload so it seems like I could be off from gas adjustment. Handguard will be behind guard.
.750. Barrel is 16" FLAME Fluted, 5.56 NATO, Mid-Length, 416-R Stainless Steel QPQ

Thanks for replies, keep them coming.

I just put one of the Syrac Ordnance on a new barrel but it has not felt a single blast of gas. I also have this JP on another new barrel which has also never farted.

I like the size of the Syrac and the adjustment.. The JP is $11 cheaper

Good choice. I also have an SLR (Sentry 6) on my 16" GUNNER. A little expensive for most but one of the best in the market.

Unless you're going to run a suppressor I wouldn't even bother.

Standard gas blocks work great. If you want to upgrade (money burning a hole in your pocket) send it off to get your standard gas block pinned in place. Set screws are fine, but a serious self-defense rifle needs to be pinned.

The clamp on gas block (adjustable or not) is much better than set screws.

That's an excellent set up. I've installed SLR gas blocks on all of my AR's but I mostly shoot suppressed.  They're beneficial either way as you can fine tune your system and end up with a soft shooting rifle that allows just the right amount of gas.  If you ever plan on shooting suppressed then you should definitely go the adjustable route. It's not needed per say but once you feel the difference it's hard to settle for an overgassed setup.

I'm running Odin Works on my Mega .308 Carbine and Syrac on my Mega bench gun.  Both are outstanding.

With the Griffin Armament M4SD2 Flashcomp and the SLR Sentry 6 GB I'm ready to step up into the suppressor game when the time comes.

When did you buy that? It's always out of stock, at least for the last six months or so.

For a budget, I have an Anderson that has worked very well.

That NI Tactical gas block looks pretty sexy.  I don't see any info/text at all about it on their website.  I don't know if it's their website or my work computer is blocking something...  Anybody know what their .625" gas block weighs?  Does the adjustment have clicks/detents like the SLP Sentry blocks?
