I recently bought a konus m30 1-4x24 scope and ive been having some trouble trying to mount it on my ar15.
i got some cheap accushot rings for it but they came loose during a shooting session (not really surprised hadnt used any loctite and the design of the knobs make them hard to tighten properly). I was gonna swap them out anyway becauase the eyepiece is too close to the charging handle, and i need the scope to be mounted further towards the muzzle. i've found this italian website http://www.tacticalsense.com/product.php~idx~~~1163~~locale~~~68~.html that sells the extra high larue for 333 euros only alternatives i found are: http://www.tactical73.com/prodotto.lasso?idric=1025&tableric=articoli at a whopping 273 euros and http://www.leapers.com/prod_detail.php?mitem=Mounting Systems&itemno=M3S40070R4 which would definately be cheaper, but i dont know if itll hold up decently. I'm not gonna fight any wars with my carbine but i dont want the mount to come loose while i shoot. It seems to me that with loctite, proper tightening and the Quick detatch levers being unable to turn anyway while theyre engaged, the UTG mount could serve my purpose OK. any ideas / different solutions? PS. Im waiting for a S&W M&P 15 TS which should've arrived last month and is now due for march (really doubtful that itllever make it due to the shortage in the US), in any case would it be a bad idea to mount the rear ring of the optic on the flattop receiver and the front ring on the troy free float rail? im guessing its a bad idea due to the rail bending when putting weight on the forearm but i wanted your opinion to make sure. As always, thanks for any insight! |
