| Im trying to add a larue 12" rail on my bushmaster predator upper. Im having problems taking off the stock free floating tube. I took off the gas block as well as the gas tube. Now im lost. Ive tried to twist it off, but its not giving and im not sure i really want to wrench on it. Am i missing or skipping a step, or do i need to put some muscle into it? |

My brother in law has a Bushmaster varmint upper and it was a bear to get the factory installed free float tube off it.
Secure it in a good upper receiver vise bock, throw a strap wrench around it and pull. When it doesn't move, pull harder. Repeat as necessary, it will come off but will not be easy. ETA: Put the strap wrench as close to the upper receiver as possible but not so close that is grips the float tube and the locking ring at the same time. |
