I just got my PSA pistol lower in and am now shopping for an upper. What is the difference, functionality wise between a 7" vs a 10"?

Im more or less going to be using it for range toy/shtf truck gun

Also, how is 300 blk in the 7-10" range, also considering going 300 black with it

Muzzle blast is the killer fir me under 10 inch, unless you are going to suppress.

No plans on suppressing at the moment, but who knows down the line

Given the same cartridge, the shorter the barrel, the more muzzle velocity you lose.

7" is a CQB gun. House clearing, close in work. 50-100 yards.
A 10" barrel is good up to 200 yards maybe more.

Just depends on the purpose you want for it.

I have a 7" and a 10" pistol.   I enjoy shooting my 7" for blasting fun, I also enjoy the muzzle flash and the percussion from the short barrel.....for about 100 rounds then I take a break from it.   I use my 10" for drills and semi precision out to 100 yards.  I plan on SBRing them both in the near future, maybe supressing the 10".

I have several pistols and one SBR (another one is in "jail") and my experience mirrors the above: super short barrels (those 7.5-8.5" in length) are somewhat uncomfortable to shoot due to concussion and noise.  I currently shoot an 7.5" Adams Arms pistol, which is 100% reliable and easy to maintain, but I use a Noveske KX5 to redirect some of the blast down range.  My 10.5" guns are more comfortable and far more accurate. If you're not going to suppress, I'd stay away from 300 Blackout, though it's still a viable supersonic round.  Probably one of the better values out there right now are the pistol uppers from DSG Arms. They're under $400 and include both a Seekins adjustable gas block and a Seekins MSCR Rail. They come in 5.56 and 300, FWIW.  I also like the PSA uppers with FN-manufactured barrels.

I haven't shot a 7" but I really enjoy my 10".

Check out Andrcorp, they have a section in the industry part of this site. Happy with the one I got from them.

I got mine without a rail because I wanted to use a different one than they had. But now they have more options. I now would just get the SLR rail from them and have them install it prior to shipping.

If you like the 7.5" I wouldn't hesitate to get one from them. It's the same component manufacturers that mine is built from and mine runs fine.

Send Jason a message from here and he will likely take care of you. http://www.ar15.com/member/member.html?id=133596

What makes the slr rail better?

Better for me may not be better for you....

I like the SLR rails is all. I don't need pic rail all down the sides.
