Just got my 16" A1 upper build done and I'm looking for directions on a battle sight zero?  I've zeroed my A2's at 50yds, I'm assuming the same for the A1?  Also which apeture is for long range the front or rear, they are both the same size?  Lastly what zero did the military use, I thought I heard 25 meter for the close range apeture, and the long range should have been on at 300 meters?

Someone's going to have to confirm this as my memory is a bit hazy.

Look for the letter 'L' on rear sight leaves. That will be the long range one. This is also the one you use to zero at 25 meters. This will give you the battle sight out to 300 yards. The short range sight is for out to 200 yards. The rear sight leaves are at different heights.

Since you have a 16 inch barrel, this will be slightly different distances (due to lesser velocity of the projectile.) I don't know if there are any CAR-15 manuals around, but that will have the appropriate method and distances for a 16 inch barrel. Hope this helps.

Thanks, for the reply.  I sighted in and couldn't tell any difference between the two, they aren't maked either.  I decided to forget it and swapped out an A2 apeture, I'm just going to battle sight zero with the small ap and be done.

Cool, have fun shooting!

I just realized that in my first post, I should have used meters instead of yards. Sorry for any confusion.
