Im looking at getting a 204 built here shortly.

I've been looking at kits from J&T and from Model 1 and wondering if anyone has had experience with either.  Im looking to build something that is reliable for shooting yotes and pdogs, not some just bench gun.  So would going with the hbar in the J&T kit be a better choice over the bull barrel in the Model 1 kit?

The way that I have them configured will cost about the same by the time Im done.  Just looking at what some of you guys that have built them already think.

I have looked at their stuff and I really do like them but I was thinking of making this a little more of a budget build so do you think that the DPMS is worth the extra cash.

You aren't going to do much better price-wise than DPMS.  Perhaps you can find a used upper on the EE.  If you have a friend that can get the industry discount through Brownell's, a new DPMS barrel is only $170.00.  With everything reused from an existing rifle upper, you would be in business for cheap.
