I just received an ARMS #38 and after installation I noticed the small-hole aperture is sheared off at the top.  Is this normal?  The white areas look like there is no finish on the metal.  Is this normal?  Should it be a fully enclosed circular aperture?

Thanks!

The newer #40s, and most likely the #38s too, have the shaved small aperture with a little notch cut into the top (supposedly a 5-600M "horizon line" sight-my ass-I suspect that they shaved it to keep it from sticking up when the sight's folded, and some idiot in marketing dreamed up this "horizon line" BS). Anyway, what you have is normal, though most people who want to be able to use the smal aperture change it out to a regular A2 aperture.

Thanks for the info!  There were no instructions with the unit so I was unsure.
