I have a choice of buying 1 of 2 rifles. The first is a Bushmaster XM15 M4 that someone has installed what looks like a quad rail, flashlight, vertical fore grip and some type of optics on the removeable carry handle. I will be able to pick this up for about $600.00. Or, since the CMP supply of Garands is getting low should I buy a FG SA from the CMP? Is the wait for a non-Greek return Garand worth it? Man, I was about to buy a match barrel for the Colt I am slowly turning into a service match rifle. Hopefully soon the insurance reimbursement check will arrive and I will be buying another Garand back from the guy I sold it to. The CMP garand will be my second, as would the Bushmaster. Any advice? I am leaning to the Garand as I would be able to buy/build another AR, but the Garands won't last forever, right? Jim |

I want a Garand too. I have a Bushmaster XM15M4 with about 600 rounds through it that I bought new ... so far so good. http://motorpo-po.smugmug.com/photos/97036692-M.jpg You have to consider that the ARs days are limited, too. You know there is going to be a new version of the AW ban without any sunset date! It's probably going to be here pretty quickly. God forbid some idiot does something tomorrow with some kind of black rifle, it might be as soon as that. |
The real problem is that I am afraid the Garands will run dry long before another AWB comes about. I acn get the Bushmaster for around $600.00 with the accessories, which is about what I could build an AR for. I am really leaning to the Garand unless there is a strong reason I should not pass on the Bushy. Jim |
