I'm in the market for a 10.3" barrel and came upon brownells website who states they are in stock. Before ordering one I have some questions that the guy at brownells could not answer. My question is the about the muzzle. On brownells website in the big description it states the muzzle thread is 1/2x28 tpi but if you click on the 10.3" barrel details it states the muzzle is .600. Can someone explain to me what the .600 is? Is it the length of the thread or what? It says its a Daniel defense barrel but on Daniel defense's website it only states the tpi is 1/2x28. If someone can help out if this is the same barrel I would greatly appreciate it. Here is a link http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/barrel-parts/rifle-barrels/ar-15-m16-hammer-forged-barrels-prod41976.aspx?ttver=2. Thanks everyone

| So let me ask this, if I buy this barrel and get a smith vortex flash suppressor. The vortex has a depth of .625. This will not fit correct? I'm still new to AR's so please forgive my ignorance with this. Is there a way to make this flash hider fit or would I have to get a whole new FH? |

The threaded portion of the barrel is .600" long, going into a hole that is .625" deep. You will have .025" of space between the muzzle and the inside of the flash hider. If for some reason one of the two is out of spec you can add a crush or peel washer behind the vortex to move it further away from the muzzle. |
