First off, props to arfcom and members for housing and providing a wealth of priceless information contained in the site. i have recenlty begun assemly and have a couple of issues i need to work out.
1. The 5C2 flash hider will not align the closed port with the ground. Do i need to space it out with another washer? 2. The MI low pro gas block cab be seen and sticks out farther than the forearm/handgaurd. I want to use the end cap, so must i use a longer forearm unit? 3. As a lefty, i've installed an ambi-selector, but was wondering about an ambidexterous charging handle and if lefties are down for them or are they snags waiting to happen. Perhaps i should reiterate my noob-status so if mention something really noobesque, please go easy on me, any and all input is appreciated. thanks, aaron almost forgot. It looks like you have your crush washer backwards in the picture, the tapered end should go toward the barrel. Most flash suppressors get installed with a crush washer.
You remove the old muzzle device and install the new one. Small end of the crush washer points towards the gun, large end towards the muzzle device. You simply tighten down the muzzle device until it aligns correctly. The crush washer will crush as required. You want to have at least 90 degrees of crush. If you don't have that much when you first start tightening, go around another turn. If you can't get it to work you'll have to use then use peel washers. These are a stack of shims. Use a lighter to de-laminate one side of the stack. Then you can "peel" away as many as you need to obtain proper alignment when the muzzle device is tightened. And get some bedsheets.....lol |

two notes
...It looks like the crush washer will crush more. But you could take some fine grit sand paper and lay it flat on a table. Then take the washer and in a wax-on wax-off motion grind it down a little to help with indexing... The other idea and I like these much better are the peel washers. They index better. |
