1. I am a dork. 2. I am not very tactically minded. 3. Apparently, I am pretty stupid. With all this in mind and out of the way, on to my question. I have always used just the basic old fashioned slings on my rifles including ar15s. I recently bought some parts from Bushmaster and added on to the order their pretty cheap Eagle Tactical assault sling just for fun. It arrived today. The instructions for putting it on are ok. I got it installed just fine according to the picture. The instructions for how to use it and what to do with the 3 straps that I now have was not included. I am sure many of you would have gotten great pleasure from watching me tie myself into knots trying to figure out how to use this thing. You can rip on me all you want, but would someone please tell me what parts of my body to put these 3 straps around to make the sling work properly. I appreciate it very much... ![]() Drew |
| Look here. While its not the exact same sling, it is very similar in features, and most 3 point slings are used this way. |

Thanks, that works. It just seems to hang a little bit lower than I thought it would, but it is right where the guy from the link is wearing his. I can't make the opening any smailler to raise the carry height because the sling chokes me when I shoulder the rifle. This seems like it will do for a cheap sling, though. Thank you again, Ghost-Shooter, for you help! Drew |

Well, the point of a 3 point sling is weapons retention, period. They are uncomfortable for long marches, and they don't do squat to help stablize gun. What they do is keep the long gun on your person while you are transitioning to a pistol to eliminate the immediate threat, find cover, and reload. Most slings aren't comfortable; they are comforting Also, you might want to try out a single point sling. They serve the same purpose, but are attached to the gun by a sling loop mounted on the base of the buffer tube and have much less webbing attached. Some people feel that they are handier since they don't feel "tied up" by the excess webbing. Good luck trying them all; you might have to get another AR just to have a place to mount the "other" sling |
