What can you all tell me about Hesse  AR15s I picked one at the Des Moines gun show today. Seems to be built well the upper and lower fit nice and tight. Just wondering what you all thought on there quality.
Thanks for any info

*cry*

You have my condolences. Try to bring it back if you can; otherwise, function check it immediately. Aside from a reputation for being of craptacular quality, customer service is..  well. I could never get anyone to pick up when I tried buying a receiver.

As a gunsmith friend always says, they cant even consistently make junk.    Too bad you cant ebay it.

What did you pay?

If it's more than $450, you got screwed (since you can sell the upper for $450 and use the lower for a boat anchor)

Well that sucks  Because I already have 2 anchors on my boat.  But I was looking for a paper weight!

Give it time, you'll have your paperweight soon enough.

PS - As a test, call them and pretend you have something wrong or defective on your weapon- see the response you get!

Is it the plastic upper and lower?

If it is just upgrade it peice by peice buy keep the lower. Buy a bushmaster upper receiver w/ barrel combo and bolt down the road. Upgrade the buttstock to a Vltor or something cool later as well.  Sell the old upper and telestock... After replacing the upper and stock their shouldnt be too much that hesse could have screwed up. If the lower parts group gives you trouble replace it with a 60 buck pack from bushmaster.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Hesse Kevlar lowers (that is when they actually are made right).  Some have had lowers with the holes drilled incorrectly and mispositioned.  However, those that are made right sem to be holding up just fne.  I have heard of the uppers crakcing and splitting, though.  I think the lower should be just fine, but a plastic upper has always made me nervous.  There's too much going on in and around trhe barrela nd cahmber for me to trust it.  The lower doesn't see that much stress from firing the weapon, but the upper... Well, let's just say I'd replace it with an aluminum one if it were me.
