My first post!
I just purchased a 1969 manufactured SP1 at a local show in nice condition. I know I will enjoy it and will post photos of it soon.

It reminds me quite a bit with of the one I had when I was in the service in the 70's, without the forward assist of course.

In looking at some of my old stuff, I found my old arms room card from when I was with the 1st infantry division in the 70's. Just out of curiousity, can anyone tell when my issue rifle was manufactured?

Also, here's a pic of me (on the right) in 1975 as a young skinny kid at Ft Polk!

Thanks for the welcome!

Kim

Welcome to retro land!  Nice pictures.  According to Ekie's Colt's USGI M16 series variation guide (pinned thread), your M16A1 was made in 1970.

4,060,001-4,221,800
1970
US Property marked M16A1.

ETA: Do you recall if your rifle had a rack number painted or otherwise marked somewhere on it?

Welcome to retroland.  Thanks for sharing pics.  In 1975 I was a freshman in HS and getting first noookie, already had a bunch of guns.  Wow 36 lovely years ago.  How time flies.
