Hey all,
I am in the process of turning one of the stripped lowers I have into a complete gun and am looking to go high end. I'm not really too worried about the cost of things, as I will save money and buy them as i can. The guns I have now aren't budget by any means, but they aren't the top of the line either. I will be putting the lower together, so my real question is... Do I buy all of the upper components separate and then build it, or do I just go out and purchase a complete upper, such as a LaRue? I have all of the necessary tools and feel confident enough to build the upper. Its going to be a shorty build, around 10-12" barrel. I should have my stamp before its all done, but will wait till I get the stamp to go forward, just looking to get the ball rolling now to start the wait for the parts/upper. I'm just at a toss up as to build the thing or just buy one thats ready to go. What are your thoughts and what would you do? Also, what components would you purchase, or what complete upper would you buy? What stripped upper, barrel, BCG, handguard, gas block, and anything else you can think of? I have an aimpoint that will be going on it once its finished, so the optic is covered. Just looking for some insight as to what everybody would do if they were doing a higher end rifle. Or should I just tell someone what I want and have them build it for me?? Thanks in advance. Mike |
