So I just won this.....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Army-Case-Carrying-Bipod-XM3-w-Green-Canvas-Cover-1969-Vietnam-/161068019363?ViewItem=&item=161068019363&nma=true&si=iZze9wDJlxdOg%252FW9Jv%252BBUaz%252Fgik%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Supposed to be new from 1969. So my question is, when did they stop marking the bipods with Colt? Can't tell from the pics if there is anything on this one or not. |

I officially kind of hate you now. Gotta go cry a little because I've been looking for something like that for years, you &*&^%$^#$%&. I say that in the most loving way possible you understand... |

Just curious, is the bipod's pivot pin held on with rivet or a pin with 1 (or 2) c-clip's.
Rivet only would mark it sometime early-70s or later C-Clip would put in in the mid/late 60's. I read somewhere Colt stopped marking in the mid-70's. I'm sure there are more knowledgeable experts out there. Great find. |

RRigs, I have one request to make, when you get your great purchase in your hands could you take out all the cleaning kit parts and take a picture of them and post them here? I have the same bipod and pouch but I don't have the cleaning kit. I'd like to see exactly what came in that kit.

Thanks for the generous offer BTW RRiggs, thanks for thinking of me, but it's all yours. (Or is this one for Blondie's 605?) |

Seeing those reminded me I have one of those XM-3 green vinyl bipod carrying cases with bipod & cleaning kit. The bipod's pivot pin is held on a pin with 2 c-clip's. Cleaning kit is new and cleaning rod is four piece. IIRC,my oldest brother (USMC 1st Div) gave it to me when he came home from Vietnam in the late 1960's. Never thought it was worth much but couldn't bring myself to throw it away.
Imagine that! |

Will do my best on getting pics but not sure about peeling the plastic off at the moment. And your welcome Doc. And not sure what ill put it with just yet. At the point that I "think" i have all the builds I want, just starting to gather the proper gear for each one now. |
