Looking for a holo sight for my AR. But when I google holo sight makers all I get is eotech. But I don't want to spend eotech money any ideas??

They are the only company that makes a true holographic sight.

There are of course red dot sights by countless companies.

Why does it blow? Holo requires lasers and is pricey. EOTech makes great sights but ya gots to pay.

No, Eotech holds the patent and are the technology experts.  They originally invented it for Heads Up Displays in fighter aircraft.  It doesn't work like a simply reflex red dot, it's far more complicated than that.  Your next best technology is a red dot sight.

though I understand where people are hesitant to drop $400 + (and that plus can REALLY go upward from $400), there are more than a few reasons to buy an optic from the best makers.

First and foremost, search the EE, craigslist (must you caution and research for this one), and local gun boards and I'd bet you'll find a very good price for a used one. Most people don't put their guns through much, let alone an optic they are scared to scratch. I've managed to get an eotech 557 with a g23 3x, an aimpoint m4, and an aimpoint ml3 for under $1000 combined. Actually all said and done I think I paid under $850-900. Now that said you have to be patient to find that good of deals and JUMP when you find them. Same goes for all tactical equipment. I've managed to surefires, benchmades, etc all for a fraction of their real price and they were all essentially brand new (unless you count removing them from the packaging to fondle them).

I'm not saying you don't get your moneys worth when you buy a primary arms scope or some other less expensive brand, but when a little patience can nab you the real deal for $50-100 more, I don't see why one wouldn't buy the "name brand". Though with the current hysteria it might be slightly harder to find a great deal, I assure you they are out there... I know because I picked up that aimpoint ml3 for $200 about a week ago

Many consider aimpoints to be a superior optic anyway. Sure, they don't have over-complicated technology that burns batteries.

Bushnell Holosight.

As far as I know it's a licensed copy of Eotech's earlier design.

Pretty sure it's less pricey too.

Try the Equipment Exchange. You might be able to pick up a nice Eotech for cheaper than you think (maybe you have something to trade to bring the price down even further).

I've picked up two used but in excellent condition Bushnell Holosights for $170 each in the last couple of months.

I'll second the bushnell holo sight suggestion. If you want that type of optic without the expense of the eotech, this will work for you. Also, if you're content with a red dot type optic, the primary arms micro dot is pretty great for the money. Just put it on a Daniel Defense mount and you're good to go.

Keep in mind the Bushnell's are no longer made. Haven't been for years now. So your looking at used ones. And Eotech will not fix them if they break.
