Very cool! Similar mag loaders are quite expensive, but if I had to load 100 of them a day ... I'd say they are reasonably priced for what they do.

Yea I was looking in another discussion and they made mention to the Maglula bench loader and I thought about getting one till I saw the price Then I got to thinking I could try and make my own. I am going to try another and give it the curved area where the rounds sit. I am not quite done with this one yet I am going to put a piece across the front of the mag and incorporate a mag catch to it that way it will hold any AR mag made.

Heath,  That is pretty darn cool.  You are curving to match the curve of the magazine?  It looks like they go in just fine straight, but you are the one pushing the guide.  Pretty darn neat my friend!

Bad ass!  Those bench loaders run like $400+!

I'm also curious as to how much that cost you to build.

I threw down $30 for the StripLULA and it works great.

"Looks" like about $25 in materials.  All I see is a piece of plastic and a small aluminum block.  And of course the time to cut and assemble.

Cool project though.  Want to share the specs?

If you have access to the tools to do it it is pretty simple to do. I don't have specs but you just cut out an area the size of a bullet and have to leave material above the bullet and base so they won't pop out. Then cut a recess for the magazine to fit in and a pusher and your done.

I was FREE! Took me about 4-5 hrs. Where I work they like to throw away small scraps of "stuff" and I will tend to hang on to some of it. I have enough of it left to do 3 more and 1 piece big enough to try the one with the arch.

It would be cool if you could doccument how you went about making this, take a bunch of pics during the process.

Definately got my gears turning to figure out how I can make one with the tools at my disposal.

I would definitely be interested in seeing some still pictures of it if you don't mind (then I'll leave you alone, I promise )

I just may have to order me a junk of delron or something along those lines and give this a try in my shop.

Pic is from the back end I put a stud in to prevent the pusher piece from sliding out the back. This view also gives the profile of the slot cut.

The front edge of the pusher sticks out a little to be sure to push the last round all the way in.

Top view.

From back with a bullet inserted.

Closer shot of the pusher.

Have you tried to make one for the S&W MP15/22?  It took me forever to load those things...I'll have to give one of these a try for the 22.  Many thanks for the extra pictures!

.22 is a whole nother monster you have to push the rounds down and then back under the lips 1 at a time.

Put me down for one as well, if you decide to build more.  When I take the family to the range, I get stuck reloading for the wife and kids.  Something like this would be awesome!

Sell these and make tons of money. That bullshit maglula thing costs like $500.

I'm still trying to figure that out...

Yea and if you have USGI and Pmags you have to get 1 for each. This one I made works with any style mag.

Put me down for two!

And adapt your design for pps-43 mags!  The casehead of 7.62x25 is the same exact size as the .223 round.
