I did some research on these before I ended up going another route.

The biggest thing you are paying for is the awesome reticle.  For example: US Optics charges $400 for the Horus reticles in their scopes.

I was looking at the Raptor and at $945 it should, IMO, have a limited lifetime warranty....it does not.  It has a 1 year warranty against mfg. defects.

For the reticle, I'd pay the $900+ price tag if they had a decent warranty, but until that changes, it tells me the company has little faith in its optics holding up over the long haul.

There were rumors that the Horus reticles would be available for Leupold scopes.  This is NOT true as of yesterday when I called the Leupold custom shop direct. They said there were no plans to ever offer it (though I think they made a few a while back).

Some people claim the Horus scopes are optically equal to US Optics....I couldn't say if that's true or not.  The best place to ask this question is at www.snipershide.com

Depends on what you're looking for....if you want the Horus reticle, the only options are US Optics and Schmidt and Bender (Custom, $2600+) or Horus itself.

If you want FFP, side focus, good glass, mil turrets and reticle.....IOR FFP Sniper's Hide edition 3-18X42mm is a great choice but is pretty costly ($1500).  You could wait for the new FFP from NightForce but it won't be out for a while and pricing looks to be closer to $2K.

Another option is the Falcon Menace 4-14X44mm with FFP, mil/mil or moa/moa reticle/turrets, and side focus for less than $400.  The glass is only good compared to S&B, IOR, USO, etc's great glass, but for the price, it's an excellent scope with all the features you need.

I have the Hawk.  I would like to get the 1-4, but I haven't yet.

The Hawk is nice.  I have used it to shoot out to 1,000 with a .260 Remington.  It is great for shots at different distances.  It is also really good at correcting errant first shots.

I have a buddy with the Falcon.  It is nice too.  I cannot say how the optics compare to US optics.  However, they are good for my needs.

I just got a Hawk and mounted it on my M1A.  I think that I'm gonna get a Raptor for my .308.  Good glass, awesome reticle.  If you want one go to www.snipershide.com and look for Clark K.  He's very knowledgeable, a dealer and a great guy.  Here's a few posts about the Horus Falcon and Raptor.  http://www.snipershide.net/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=505140
