Wondering how bad the AAC 51T Muzzle Brake is on an 11.5" barrel. Debating between this, a black out, and a battlecomp. Don't want anything much louder than the birdcage that is on it now. Here is a picture of some of my rifles for your troubles. Yes I do have need for the 51T mount just wasn't planning on running my 11.5" gun suppressed unless I had to.

Brakes and Comps are significantly louder to the shooter and in my experience the shorter the barrel the worse the effect.  I have to double up my hearing protection with any comp or brake that directs blast anywhere but forwards.  Of course a comp that directs the blast forwards isn't much of a comp or a flash hider.  There are a lot of claims but I have yet to hear a muzzle device that reduces recoil and does not contribute to an increased db at the shooters ears (short of a suppressor.)

However if you our anyone else finds one I am all in.

I have a brakeout on that 8.5 inch gun and it literally knocked the lens out of my eyepro from the concussion lol.

I used the 51T brake (FS in the EE cheap) on my mk18. It's brutally loud and concussive. It works like a charm however. The blackout will be your best get but SBRs are loud.

I'm just wondering if the brake will be as bad as the brakeout. I have little hijabs standing beside me when I shoot because they are testing their minerals to see who can withstand the boom better. I may just leave the A2 on their or put a blackout on it. I would really like to run the brake on one of my guns. Maybe the 18" gun would like the brake.

Never shot the brake out bit the brake is just a more opened up version of the brake out with no flash hiding capabilities. I would wear dual ear pro shooting without my can and the concussion was still impressive. For what it is, it works phenomanoly.

Definitely THIS!!!  I made the mistake of shooting it on my 10.5" for the first time without my ears on. oops!

The brakeout is pretty much the same.  Only slightly less concussive.

I have an AAC Brake on my 10.5 and it's probably the most concussive/loudest set up I own..My buddy was shooting the same exact set up at a match where we were using a car for cover. He blew the plastic off on the tail light if that's any indication of it's characteristics..
