I just purchased a RRA upper and went I went to start a round count book for it, I noticed it has no identifing markings. The only thing I can find is "N 9 C" stamped on the top of the barrel near the upper. I am guessing the 9 and C are for 1:9 chrome-lined, which is what this barrel is. So: So how do you identify a RRA uppers? |
+1 RRA doesn't seem to like marking stuff much. Some their uppers (which you might already know) don't even have forge marks on them.......at all. My 20" A4 is marked pretty much in the same manner, but all I can remember it saying right now is "9" with a letter on either side of it. Since RRA doesn't make chrome-lined 20" barrels yet, I doubt mine has a "C" WIZZO |
The "N" is likely for a 5.56 Nato chamber. The "A", I'm not sure about, but it appears on nonchrome lined barrels, from what I have seen. |

I got it from Adco so I know it is a real RRA upper. It isn't a biggy. Its just that for all my firearm purchases for the past several years I have made a round count book to keep with that gun. Actually, I use Creedmoor Sports' Gun Book. Each book has the model and serial so I was looking for some type of identifing number on the upper. Try this: The upper is the part that wears the most, right? And the lower is the part that has a serial number. So do I keep a record on each upper, or one for each upper and each lower? |
