Specifically, how do you tell between the packaging for older lacquer finished cases vs. the newer stuff with polymer finish? I'd like to be able to tell at a glance which is which on the shelf at my local Gander Mtn. and gun shows.

Just ask to open a box and see. They most likely will allow you to.

Thanks for the info Painless! I mixed some Wolf and Radway on the farm last weekend, glad I didn't have the same experience you did.

I will have to remember not to mix and match and to use the chamber brush good after shooting the Russian Dog ammo!!

Interesting experiment. Looks like I'll keep the Wolf separate from brass case ammo.

Carb cleaner, huh?

I use an M-16 chamber brusha nd lots of hoppes #9.  seems to work really good evenafter a day of almost 250 rounds of wolf every session.  Also, it seems to me the 62 grain stuff isn' as dirty and more accurate.  I'm thinking the stuff is loaded a little hotter than the 55 grain.

Gasoline sopped in the chamber also works really good in removing the carbon buildup.  Of course I only use it sparingly and outdoors.

Just a word of caution...

Don't ever use gasoline for gun cleaning.  It is entirely too flammable and is very dangerous to use in this application.

Use Hoppes #9 or some other cleaner that is designed for this application.
