I got a very lightly used Bushmaster 14.5" upper with an 1:9 twist H-Bar in a trade recently.  I am likely going to get a Vortex FH to make it legal in length vs going the SBR route.

I have a bud that has an AR vise so I can hopefully remove the existing FH without much issue.

Anyone know or already have the data to support how I can confirm the thread pattern on my barrel so that I can order the proper Vortex?

Thanks!

Most sites will tell you what they are for.  Use the one that is called 5.56 or model 1001v.  Its 1/2-28 thread.  I'll post a few sites:

PK  The $48 one near the bottom.

Smith Enterprises  The 1001v.

Rainer  "The Vortex can be permanently attached to the new 14.5″ M-4 barrels the result is a barrel with an over-all length of 16.1″."

Midway  (Out of Stock, but it's the same one for 5.56 - model 1001v)

You're welcome.

This $52  Drilled Smith Vortex at PK (towards the bottom of the page) is the same thing, but has the hole drilled for a pin if that is what you prefer.  Not really needed if you are sending it somewhere to get it done.

I would make sure the FH thats on there now is not pinned on before you start wrenching on it. Just sayin.....
