I picked up 4000 rounds of HSM 55 grain FMJ reloads at a gun show for $165/1000.  So far I have shot about 500 rounds and have had no problems.  The brass looks good (not perfet, but at $.17 a round...), and once I polished the spent casings up they looked great!

I was wondering if anyone else has had any good/bad experiances with this stuff.  Heck, it's almost as cheap as wolf!

So far so good, next time they are in town , I will be getting some more!!!

BTW-this is the company that provides Cabelas with all of their bulk and remanufactured ammo, and this stuff is suppposed to be the same quality.

I have shot it for a few years.

I give it 2 thumbs up for price and reliability.

We have an ammo dealer here in western WA that sells it at all of our local WAC gunshows. Same price $165 per 1K right now ( 1 year ago it was around $125 )

I have NEVER had a bad round out of maybe 8K rounds of this stuff.

It's the best priced plinking ammo out there I think.

Have you reloaded any of their brass?  Mt understanding is that it is all once fired, right?

That's is a great price and it's reassuring that you've fired it with no probs.  I'm just a bit leery of shooting reloads especially since all of the kaBooms lately...

I was worried about that as well, but they have been in business for 25+ years, and if their quality control is sufficient enough that Cabela's would assume the liablity to sell their ammo, that's good enough for me.  Same goes for BHBB reloads.

Now if it were joe schmoe off the street selling his own home brewed special load, that would be a whole 'nother story!

Anyone know if you can purchase 62 GR. Bonded Soft Point LE223T3 ammo from them. It looks liek they have some but not sure if it is a LEO only situation.

I purchased a few k from them at a gun show. When I questioned the guy about the quality, he said plain and simply"if you shoot it and you dont like it, I will take it all back." And I believed him. It was new stuff, or was suppose to be new, but it looks great. I have not shot any yet though.

How did you get it for $165/k. There website lists 55gr for $220/k

Double check if you get that bulk ammo from Cabelas.  There have been soem people that have gotten ULTRAMAX instead of the HSM, me included.  That was an over the phone order and I was assured it was HSM.

Now I just call HSM direct, they are nice people.

I'm told that Hunting Shack uses ATI FMJ 55-gr. bullets in this package you're describing.   Question - How's the quality of these bullets and how would they compare to say American Eagle or Winchester USA's white box version?

I would just like to say:

I would never advise anyone to shack up with an HSM Reload- much less in a Hunting Shack.

Can you say "Brass Monkey"?

Have you had any experience with them?

HSM loaded the 1999 and 2000 Navy Fleet Matches and All-Navy Matches 77-grain ammo.  I bought a case of 1,000 rounds at Camp Perry to shoot in the Nationals.  They are a good value.

How does their 55gr FMJ or 55gr. SP perform accuracy wise?  For anyone who has shot it, is it more accurate than AE or Winchester USA, or is it liike most cheaper .223 ammo?

I just recently purchased a box of their 55 and 64 Gr Soft Points.  I will let you know how it shoots in a week or so.  Most of their ammo is geared for Hunting and Match and it is very accurate.  However, most of their ammo is not cannelured, but they do put a nice crimp on their bullets.  I never had any problems with any of their ammo.

I've shot a bunch of the 750 Gr AMAX in .50 BMG from them and it kicked ass. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.

Their .50BMG is match grade ammo though, isn't it, these are reloads.  I guess they are good though, HSM makes good stuff.  I found the 55gr. FMJ for $9 per 50 at www.surplusammo.com .

It's at least as good as Federal AE. I've shot about half an ammo can of it in the last month.

How does the rifle look after shooting HSM ammo?  Is it fairly clean ammo, or like Wolf?  Just wondering because I have 500 rounds inbound.

I just ordered 1K of 55 gr and 1K of their 9mm range ammo.  I'll keep you posted.

Like I said in my first post, I picked up 4K of .223, but I also picked up 3000 of 9mm, and 3000 of .45.  It all shoot fine and they are a little bit cleaner than WWB.  It is a great deal for the money!

What's the AR-15 discount getting us for 1,000 rounds of 223 55-gr. FMJ (223-R1)?

Ive shot 2k of their 9mm reloads with no problems.  The cases were a bit corroded.  Id buy again.  I buy direct from factory.  the people there are very nice and professional.

hope I will still be able to find ammo there after you ammo stashers destroy their inventory.
