I am considering purchasing one of these for my spare carbine:
http://swfa.com/IOR-1x21-Micro-Edge-Red-Dot-Sight-P47543.aspx Has anyone tried them? |
| Well I haven't tried one but IOR makes great optics so I cant imagine this one being any different. My concern would be what mounts will work with it? Does it have the same mounting base as an Aimpoint? If not, most likely it will not work with a Larue, ADM, Bobor, DD, ect mount. Now if its going on an offset mount with magnified optics it would be fine. |

Simply for the expanded mounts selection, I'd stick with the PA micro dot for half the cost. The primary arms optic only has 1/8th the claimed battery life of the Valdada. 8000 hours is pretty decent IMO. Yes but that is on setting 1, so is setting 1 the highest setting or lowest? That would make a big difference. |

IOR makes a great product but just comparing battery life: Accordning to their web site the rating is on setting #1. My 1,000 hour rating for our new generation Micros is conservative at a usable medium setting. Marshall |

•Mount on any weaver/picatinny rail I have many IOR scopes so I would probably give it a try. Right, but if he mounts it directly on his "picatinny rail" hes gonna have a huge front sight post blocking the red dot and he will be unable to sight it in...hence the aftermarket mounts needed, or at least a riser of some sort. |

How do you know he has a front sight? Even if he doesn't mounting the RDS directly to the receiver w/o any sort of riser, he'll have a weird "eye socket weld" rather than a normal cheek weld. It's simply too low. He'd have to use something like 2 YHM 3-slot risers like one member here did on an early PA micro. |
