Since I cannot afford a real PEQ2, PAQ4 or DBAL for my M4, I want an exact sized clone of one that is just a visible laser (adjustable). The only problem is they are all way too big. DOes anyone have one that allows you to actually aim the weapon correctly with an Aimpoint/Eotech/iron sights? Thanks ETA Sorry what I meant is the height of it mounted on the top rail of the forend prevents you from aiming correctly unless you are using a parallax free optic past 50 meters, like Aimpoint, Eotech, ect. Or a scope with higher magnification since it blurs it out. |
Are you talking about the IR laser store from Hong Kong on eBay? You can get a unit that is an airsoft clone converted to emit an IR laser for around $600 from them I believe. I'm not interested in an IR unit because I don't want night vision or anything. It is just for aesthetic reasons but I at least want something worthwhile out of it. |
Why is that Sexual Harrassment Panda? What did I say? I can't afford a real one? Well if I save up for a while then yeah I can, but I really don't want a real PAQ-4/PEQ-2/ect. I can't justify spending that kind of money for something I will never use unless zombies invade, god forbid. I have tried 2 different IR laser/illuminator clones and both made it impossible to use iron sights/co-witness/aim correctly with my Aimpoint in front of 50 meters. None of them to my knowledge are the correct size. |
I think the fact that you want it just so your rifle looks cool makes him sad |
Well the $600 Hong Kong IR laser sucks I bet, but I assume I'd get taken seriously if I came in here and said "hey look I have a Hong Kong PEQ-2 clone that really shoots out an IR beam" like that long thread is about. It's all about looks still because it is a shitty IR laser to begin with. |
|
Don't do something because it looks cool, do something because it works. If it doesn't work, it's not cool. I know you've heard it before, but I'm going to be serious here for a second... use the money on ammunition or a course of some sort. You'll get more out of it than a brand-new-already-broken clone IR laser. |
Yeah I know, but I honestly don't care. I want something that looks very similiar to an M4 you would see in the mil. |
Then my participation in this conversation is over. |
I started to reply to this thread last nite... It doesn't matter if you're taken seriously or not on this or any thread. This is all just words on a screen. I'm actually Elvis. Really. Anyway, it seems that you have missed the point of the IR laser/illuminator. I use mine to double the amount of time that I can deploy a rifle against a target of my choosing, and to ensure a probable extreme advantage over my potential target within the newly-created time window. I use a PASGT to slap a NV monocular on a Bell skateboard helmet. Not because I want to play army-man. Rather, because i want to be able to wear a head-mounted NV for more than 10 minutes without getting a headache. So that's MY reason for installing IR laser/illuminator devices on rifles. I do it so I can kill stuff in the dark. Not for "looks". The G&P PEQ I used to make my IR conversion is a "clone". It's actually the only PEQ clone I've seen anywhere. So it's not like there could be much confusion on which one to get. It fits under the sight plane of standard YHM iron sights and an aimpoint. See the photos I posted last night in the "long" thread. Your assertion of sight interference at 50 yards is baffling. Your toy mentality is somewhat discouraging. Just get a complete airsoft package and wave that around. I've never seen one in person, but I understand those things have to be picked up and cycled before you can tell if it's real or not. That's perfect for what you need isn't it? Lay off of my blue suede shoes boy! |
Well I have a PEQ clone that says "G&P" on the box, and it blocks my view. I have a F marked front sight base, Aimpoint, and Matech BUIS. It is blocked! I said 50 yards because the Aimpoint is parallax free PAST 50 yards (or meters I guess). It is NOT parallax free before 50 meters. Therefore I can't have my eyes higher than the PEQ clone in order for me to actually see the dot on the target instead of it sitting on the PEQ clone, which says "G&P" on the box it came in. |

IF you don't have NVGs then IR is usless and dangerous....for about $30 you can get an airsoft battery holder that looks like a PEQ 2a if you just want look get that. The best value in IR lasers are the Cherookee lasers that are out there for around $300 if you can find them, they are the same size as a 6p and hold zero perfectly even under hard use. If you want a toy spend toy prices on it not $600....... |
