Is it possible to buy a IR lasers still? I know they are legal to own, wasnt it the FDA who stopped sales as you could blind yourself or someone and they not know it as you cant see it? Anyway if they are avaiable where and who makes a good setup? I would like to pick one up for hunting coyotes here with my NVDs. Yes we can still hunt after dark on scavengers here in Washington yet. Thanks, Mike |
Indeed ALL IR lasers are classified as Class IIIB no matter what the power level of the device due to the reason you outlined. They are also illegal for sale from a manufacturer except to military and LE units. Look around on the EE and EBAY, but be VERY careful on the legality of such units. Hope this helps, Vic Edited to add; Here is the reg. from the FDA outlining IR lasers. www.fda.gov/cdrh/radhlth/pdf/lasgde01.pdf |

Nevermind its the equipment exchange. DOH.... I asked what was the EE But what the heck do you call it for the search IR Lasers brings up alot of stuff that isnt even close to what I'm actually looking for, what is the designation of the one you see on all the M4's? |
Mostly the VERY effective PEQ-2A and the PAQ-4C's. Here is a good sight for both and then some! www.nightline-inc.com/nightline/catalog/AN-PEQ-2.htm You will also see this laser as well, one of my favorites! www.nvec-night-vision.com/products/details_R.asp?Msg=20&System=ATILLA&Category=5 ...and this, www.nvec-night-vision.com/products/details_R.asp?Msg=20&System=VITAL&Category=5 Hope this helps! |
You also may run into a lot of issues if you buy a mil-spec IR laser. Like for instance, what do you do it breaks and needs repair??? You can't send it back to the manufacturer as they will keep it! ![]() C4 |
