HI,
My name is Mike. I am from Poland. We have in the Muzeum Polish Land Force  amercian weapons from 60's and 70's, but we are missing parts.
So, I looking for to buy (original part):
- handguard and flash suppressor - XM177 E1.
- selector lever - M16A1.

If I have serial of weapon Where I can see it history (allocation to unit)?

Please help me If You can. ;)

Regards Mike

Easy parts to find on Gunbroker.  and EE.   You just gotta find someone who will ship overseas.

Oh....and  welcome to America

Welcome to the board!  You've come to the right place, but the request may not be quite as easy as it sounds.
The "flash suppressor" (or moderator) for the XM177 E1 is an NFA controlled device.  In other words, it's classified as a sound suppressor, which is (stupidly) tightly controlled here.
I honestly have no idea what would be involved in getting one exported to Poland but maybe someone with museum contacts here could help find out?

I don't believe there's any sort of database listing unit allocations of weapons by serial number, but if you post an SN and details (model, etc) we'll tell you as much as we can!

Oh, and photos of any old ARs you're working on would certainly be welcomed here.

Stabbing wildly in the dark here:  Perhaps an official request to the military attaché at the Vietnamese Embassy to Poland might get the XM177 moderator.  They were recipients of a good bit of Polish aid in the past unpleasantness.  Somebody in the Polish military will likely have some kind of working relationship with the attaché, if you can find out who that is.

Hi,

We have in the Museum:
- 3 x M1 car,
- 3 x m79,
- 3x m16a1,
-  xm177e1,
- m3a1 greasegun,
- 2x m1911,
- 1911a1.

It is photo one M16A1:
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/7849/nwv1.jpg

and XM177E1:
http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/3710/7yuq.jpg

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/740/kb7w.jpg

M16A1 derived from 56. Special Company from Bydgoszcz. The unit existed at the time of the People's Republic of Poland. They used the M16 to show as is made "enemy's" weapon (USA). Officially, the unit never was in Vietnam, but unofficially ... I do not know. Maybe They got the weapon from the Soviet Union.

Embassy of Vietnam doesn't want to help.

It is SN XM177E1 - 902855. Maybe You can help.

ohh If my english isn't good Im sorry. ;)

Your English is fine, there are pictures of carbines with "birdcage" flash hiders on them as replacements so it is not too inaccurate.  Thank you for the pictures, keep the pictures coming, more pictures, pictures of details / serial numbers and other markings.

Oh, the M16A1 looks beautiful even though the sling is on backwards.

Can You help to find information about the weapons based on SN?

Mike, those carbine handguards were original Colt and would have been correct for your xm177. The seller of those is a memeber here, and many members here buy from him. I cannot say if he would want to ship parts overseas, as I do not know what is involved to do so. IM or email him though and ask.

Thank you in advance for the pictures.  This "tacked" thread describes serial numbers:

Not as much is known about the Hydra-Matic rifles so it will be interesting to see yours, this tacked thread has more information:

If the government of Vietnam was not willing to help, you might contact Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, etc.  As a last resort you can post a "want to buy" ad on craigslist in those countries.

I hope that the photo will be in the next week, because the Museum is renovated ....

Do You have email to user Ekie?

Hello Mike.  At the bottom of every user's post there are buttons "IM User" and "Email User" so you can get in cotact with Ekie or any user.  Realize some people do not check their email account associated with ar15.com often and you may not hear from him for a while.  (I rarely check my email associated with ar15.com )

It has a flat slip ring - likely an export model. (US Forces used these also, so no biggy, just an observation.) OP, please contact me by email. I may have a set of HGs I can donate to the museum.

ETA: Perhaps a BFPU worn moderator for it could be temporarily served with a wire brush treated Bricks moderator? He'll have to find an original outside the US, but until then...

After travelling all over the world working some jobs I'd rather not discuss...I've picked up some very important information...
...I've learned a little bit of lots of languages...
...I'm fluent in 3 languages...
...Polish is not one of them...
...I have a good working knowledge of about 4 more languages...
...Polish is not one of them...
...but I learned something even more important...

...Google translate works pretty good for most languages...
...hopefully Polish IS one of them...

...no strokes here yet,,,

Should work with http or https.
Also, you don't have to worry about bandwidth now, we should have plenty.
Unfortunately the move to the new high-bandwidth servers for Retroblackrifle.com required dropping the For Sale forums.
I couldn't afford to pay an additional $40 per month just to keep forums that were not being utilized.

To get parts out of the US, you will need an exporter in the US to do your paperwork for you. It should be possible for a museum from a friendly nation to get weapons components for such purposes.  I do not know of any licensed exporters.
