Is there some sort of guide for identifying the maker of an upper receiver? I'm trying to sort out what I have, and haven't been able to find a reliable way to identify the basic castings.
I did try the search function and found pretty much everything but what I'm looking for. Thanks! |
| There is a list of forge mark identifiers floating around this site, however, those markings only tell you who produced the raw forging-they don't finish the upper. With most uppers it's anyone's guess as to whom machined & finished the receiver unless it's a Colt, LMT, FN, for example. |
| Thank you. The main reason I asked is because I've seen guys on numerous occasions claim that the manufacturer of the upper doesn't match the lower. The rifles in question were lower end guns. I always thought these guys were full of B.S. myself, because almost all unmarked uppers look pretty much the same to me. |
