Ok, I have a 16" 1/7 twist barrel.  I have the LMT BUIS.  I am trying to adjust my sights for the range this week to do the Improved BZO.  I trun the allen wrench counter clockwise to loosen the nut and try to lower the knob 4 clicks beleow 6/3 (mine is 6 clicks between 4 and 6/3.  I can't do it.  No matter how many times i turn the wrench it won't go not even 1 click below 6/3.  I must be doing something wrong.  Please help.

P.S.  My knob says 5  4  Z  then 6/3.  Can someone tell me what the Z is?  "Zero"?  And if it is, which zero?

Thanks

Make sure it's 3 full turns

With the allen wrench still in place, and while holding the top half of the elevation drum stationary, turn the bottom half of the elevation knob 4 clicks in the *UP* direction. This way, when you retighten the halves together, you're able to bring the bottom half back *DOWN* 4 clicks... but now the 6/3 part comes along for the ride.

Bingo - you're at 6/3-4

Be sure the fourth click below 6/3 locks in firmly. Sometimes the sight bottoms out and it's close, but a little mushy feeling. In that case, you can repeat the procedure and add one more click below 6/3.

Thanks greg.  I also figured out i'm a dumba$$.  I was using a metric allen instead of SAE.  I ran to home depot and got the right one.  It went down 6/3-4.  Now, can anyone tell me what the "Z" is on the dial?

"Z" is for zero. Set the sights to Z when using the GI zero method, and then set them back to 6/3 for practical shooting.
