The family and I were in Eugene to pick up a new Toyota Tundra for me. My wife said, "you should go to Cabelas while I go for a run." So I did and while there found a Sig P229 and a DPMS Oracle 308 on sale. I put them on hold and met my wife for lunch. I mentioned I put two guns on hold and she responded "you better go get them!"
So now I own a 308 based AR and need to add sights and shoot it. This gun will be a blaster unless I find that it groups 1" or better. What do we know about the Oracle? Are there accuracy uppers that will drop on? What sights do your like on this gun? The sky is the limit and the journey is the fun! |

I don't know anything about the Sig, but your wife sounds awesome. My DPMS 308 Oracle is a tack driver. I have Midwest Industries iron sights (the front sight will not fold down with the Glacier Guard) and a Vortex Viper 4-16x44 HS LR.
I like the set up and I am going to try a Magpul handguard to see if the front sight will fold down. However, I like the Glacier Guard. I saw another guy post a Troy front sight that will fold down with the Glacier Guard and you could mount a sling to the Troy. This may be the way to go, but I have never used Troy. I think Midwest Industries makes good products. |
