using a crush washer you simply tighten it until the slots line up.

peel washer, you test it for alignment, then slowly peel away layers until the slots line up. heat helps separate the layers.

There are a few methods.

You can use a crush washer which will allow you to just torque the FH until it lines up.

You can also use peel washers which will allow you to "shim" the FH so it lines up when torqued.

You can also carefully file, stone, sand, etc the back of the flash hider until it indexes.

I prefer the last method myself, but they all work.
