A while ago there was a thread with someone asking why the Israeli's chopped their barrels down to 13 inches.  The thread drew some smart ass remarks from people -including myself-. I cant find this thread but I promised that I would attempt to find the answer to this as we have a customer representative in Israel who is former Massad.

Anyway, the answer from him is as follows:

For a while Israel was experimenting with different barrel lengths to see what would suit close quarter maneuverability and not inhibit accuracy.  They found the magic number to be 13 and that is why there are 11" and 12" variants as well.  

He says that this is the answer from all the people that he used to work with has given him.  I hope this provides some relief
