Could anyone tell me if installing a gas block is a nightmare or an easy task.

It isn't that hard. You could actually measure to get the gas ports lined up. I just eyeballed mine. I have done it twice now. Got it right the first time.

I put the tube in and blow air from one end of the barrel while stuffed the other end and see if the air comes out strong to line it up before I tighten the block.
