I just bought a new Phantom and went to install it on my BM barrel last night.  When I screwed on the FH (hand tight), there was about a 1/16" gap between the FH and the full diameter portion of the barrel.  I removed the FH and saw that the threading doesn't go all the way.  Even with a peel washer, there is still a gap.  Is this normal?  Should I just keep adding torque until the gap closes?

It's that BUSHy threading (cheap) the GI FH is designed to accomidate that.  I had a SE G4 Vortex with similar problem.  The G6 accomidates it as well.

I would reccomend using a pair of peel washers or a lock washer (they are thicker).

I doubt you will be able to simply keep turning it on. (but maybe someone else knows the answer to that I didn't risk it.)

Thanks Green0.  I was considering grinding off the threading from the inside of the flash hider, just 1/16" inside from the end.
But I think I'll just get a crush washer and be done with it.  Great, now I need to pay $10 for a $2 part with shipping.
