How much work is installing FF handguards on a RRA carbine with standard non-FF ones?

Do I have to have special tools, etc?

Check this thread...about half way down the page is a tutorial for several different brands of FF tubes.

Pain in the ass in my opinion.

I would rather send it off to adco or ar15barrels and let them do it.

Depends on if your using the special barrelnut type or the clamp on type like Samson, MI and Troy.

By "special tools" do you mean a vice and standard barrel wrench?  No you dont need anything more special than that.  In fact the versions that use the original barrel nut require nothing more complex than a Dremel.
