Looks like cristalization of the metal. I don't see any indications of stretching or bending. Possible reasons: improper cooling/heating during the manufacturing process, contamination of the metal, etc...
See if they'll replace it.

Yeah, it must just be defective. I have emailed them with a pic. I bought a Bushy in the mean time. If they replace it I'll keep it as an extra.

I've been using a BM wrench for over 8 years now. It has built and dissassembled many an upper, some by friends who aren't as nice to their tools as I am. Come to think of it I have taken a hammer to it a couple of times myself.

I emailed a pic to DPMS last night, no response yet, anyone have much customer service dealings with them? If I dont hear back in a day or so I am going to call. A pic is worth a thousand words, so I'd rather start my dealings letting them see what my complaint is.

Mine isn't fragile. I beat the piss out of mine numerous times and it is still going strong. Must have been a defect in that one.

I wouldnt worry, many folks have had years of use out of these units, just not me.
