So I just got my new trigger in mail today a Timney competition 3# trigger.
Can anyone give me some tips on installing it like which way to push the pins out from left to right or right to left. also do I need to take the handle off to do this? Any other tips would be nice thanks. This will be going in my Remington R-15 22" |
| It really doesn't matter which way they go in or come out. Your pistol grip needs to come off because you have to remove the safety to access the trigger. Once the trigger is replaced, there are 2 setscrews you tighten down. Make sure to move the springs over the trigger pin. |

A lot of people put their pins in one way or the other, I but them in from right to left, but it doesn't matter as long as the groove goes in last for the hammer pin. Even then it doesn't really matter, it's just easier for you since the little spring that holds the pin in place will catch on the end groove and you'll have to push past it. Same for removal. Just push them out grooved end first.
For the Timney it doesn't matter at all as the pins aren't held in my springs. Once you drop the Timney in, you'll need to hold the pins in place while you tighten the two set screws in the trigger housing. That pulls the housing tight against the pins. Then, and this is important, install the two screws that came in the bag on top of the screws that were already in there. They aren't spares! They are used to lock the other screws down. They lock against each other. |

I've got two of them. Everybody's right....it doesn't matter operationally how you put the pins in, but "grove out first / in last" just makes it easier because of the spring legs. Snug the first two set-screws down (the ones already installed) first, then the two in the bag on top to lock the first ones in. Those are some SMALL threads, so make sure you don't cross-thread them.
Great triggers, BTW. I've got the 3lb skeletonized ones. Just make sure you don't go near the trigger until you're ready to shoot, there is NO take-up or slop in them, at ALL! |
