Date looks like it is dated 1970, I would vote yes.  I have one on an XM177

Same product was packaged throughout the years.
The instruction sheet is what makes it retro.

All the ones I have seen had an A2 rifle illustrated.

These came up here 3 or 4 years ago without the instructions. Definitely yes!

What I recall was the steel clip was used on Carbine font sights, but were disliked because they rattled, and were one of the reasons utiity straps and 550 cord were put into use.

I don't recall that the rear strap was discussed at the time.

They have always been in my TM's but I don't have one that dates prior to 1976.  I first saw them at Sir Plus but they were kinda pricey $20 plus.  As stated above I also prefer the Docmike budget sling.  Don't really recall ever seeing one in a VN era picture but many use and like them.
