First. I built a Vltor Vis with a CMMG 11.5 brl. I took my Acog off my 16" carbine thats was sighted in @100yds. I put the Acog on my new 11.5" and took it to the range. Aiming at teh 100yd target, it shot the dirt @80yds. I had to keep going up and up in elevation to get in on target. The gun function 100% with 150rds. BUT should the difference in POI be that much at 100yds between a 11.5" and 16"???? the POI difference suppressed and unsuppressed wasn't too much off, but i thought this was weird |

If you where using the same upper with just a barrel swap, then a few inches would be expected since each barrel will have it's own barrel harmonics (and a bit of being bent/twisted to each as well). Note: a 16" verses an 11.5" barrel does not have that much difference in velocities that would cause more that a few inches in POI difference at 100 yards. But, since you have two different uppers, with two different barrels, then you have to think of the above and the fact that the upper receivers may be milled a bit different not only in the handle mount track (where the scope is looking), but the barrel extension socket as well (where the barrel is pointing). Also to add, if the uppers where not assembled to spec (read over tightened), then one of the uppers may have a bent/twisted barrel socket as well. |
