Hey guys this is my first Eotech. bought it brand new. I installed it and turned it on, but it look like just a cluster of dots.
It is not a circular reticle with a dot in it. It is just a cluster of dots. What is going on? |

Normal.
Check their FAQs: http://www.eotech-inc.com/technicalfaqs.php |
| I'm not sure what you mean by "cluster of dots". First, the EOTech reticle is made up of pixels, but the reticle should appear as adverstised. Second, if you use corrective lenses, put them on, the reticle is projected out to the distance you're aiming at (something like that, holography confuses me). When I first got my EO, the reticle was a bit of a blur, I was like WTF this sucks, I put my glasses on and it sharpened up immediately. |

I thought the eotech had the circular retecile with the dot in the middle. I really do not care just want to make sure it is functioning properly as I am going to the range today. But isn't there suppose to be a circle with a dot in it? |

Even on the eotech sight for my model it shows the sight as a circle with the dot in the middle A qoute from eotech site "The circle is 65 MOA across and the center dot actually is less than 1/3rd of an MOA. Most people cannot resolve the dot smaller than 1 MOA which is why we advertise it as such." All mine has is a dot that is it.... |

But isn't there suppose to be a circle with a dot in it? Did you happen to catch this part of the FAQ? "My circle is fuzzy/hazy. Why is this? That question about our reticle is common. What people usually see on-line or in advertisements are graphic representations of the reticle. What you are seeing is likely normal. The outer circle of the reticle is made up of hundreds of pixels (small dots that form together to make a larger image). This pixilation is key to being able to see the hologram properly, and is inherent in the technology. You should see the center dot as a single MOA." It's supposed to a circle of pixels, not a solid circle. |

you said you bought it new, so this more than likely doesnt apply to you.
All of our eotechs that were in vehicles hit with IEDs or mounted to 240s or subjected to more than the standard rigors of being dropped, kicked, dropped some more, rained on, dropped some more had this happen. Instead of the their standard image, it was no longer pixelated but instead a bunch of lines that were drawn outward from the center dot. essentially they were useless. Big supprise, L3 refused to fix them, so we had a hundred or so get junked. |

Ok guys I think it is me, yes I am a dumb A$$,
I orderd the wrong eotech. I got one that is just the single dot. No circle reticle. Damn it Oh well I did got to the range and zero this thing and it is freaking awesome. very accurate and was able to hit the 500 yrd target, yes it was hard but it can be done. Next I need a 3x magnifier. |
