Difficult to say for sure using only the photographs, but it looks CL to me.
Chrome barrel/chamber lining is easiest to see at the transition lines... the lining does not cover the entire breech face of the barrel extension, and it does not cover the entire muzzle. The transition between the chrome (which is a gray/silver matte finish on the breech face and muzzle) will appear as a ring slightly larger than the chamber (at the breech) or bore (at the muzzle) of gray, maybe only 1/32" wide. Outside of the grey ring you see the base metal and/or Parkerizing. It's pretty easy to spot. Joe |

Did you pull the hand guards ? You can see the marking under the barrel nut pretty easily with the hand guards off. I just pulled mine and looked . Marked 205 = R4, CL, lightweight (gov't profile) 1:7. Do you have a standard barrel nut? I have the BCM KMR on it. I can try pulling them off and see if the markings are visible. |

According to this, there will be a "C", or perhaps a certain series of numbers depending on model, stamped on the barrel just in front of the receiver if it is chrome lined: http://www.class3weapons.com/rock-river-arms-review/ ![]() |

OP, from your pictures, I can't really tell. When you look at the breech of a chrome lined barrel, you should see a satin-finished silver-gray color inside the chamber that ENDS outside the chamber. It should be VERY clear.
HERE is Rock River's listing of their old and new barrel markings. They mark the barrel on top of the chamber area, so you will probably have to take the handguards off to read the marking. |

Maybe for RR, but FN most certainly makes SS, chrome lined barrels. I had one until recently. I will find a pic EDIT: Pic http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h385/alaskaLTZ/DSC_6652.jpg Quoted:

If it is a stainless barrel, it's NOT chrome lined. Stainless is stainless because it contains a high percentage of chrome in the alloy. No need to chrome line it since the whole barrel is chrome ! Maybe for RR, but FN most certainly makes SS, chrome lined barrels. I had one until recently. I will find a pic EDIT: Pic http://i1107.photobucket.com/albums/h385/alaskaLTZ/DSC_6652.jpg How does this picture show a stainless, chrome lined barrel? Haven't seen any of the FN barrels at PSA that are stainless and chrome lined. Most of the PSA chf barrels use the "m249" steel and double thick chrome lining. |

I am not sure I understand your question. CL means chrome lined. It is a stainless barrel, and I am sorry that you haven't seen it before. The PSA rep here in their Industry forum is the one who answered the questions for us about the barrel. right here on ar15.com I have absolutely ZERO motive to lie about this subject. |

Sorry, no question to your motive. Just that the photo doesn't represent that it is stainless. It's coated black and not marked stainless in anyway. That marking looks just like any of the other barrels made of non stainless steel. |

I reached out to Rock River, they checked the records which shows it being chrome moly and not chrome lined. The RRA CMV barrels are pretty damn accurate barrels still. It will not last as long as a CL barrel but you will still get a lot of usage out of them. The chamber on those barrels is chrome lined. Shoot the barrel out and replace it someday. Do not dwell so much on CL vs CMV barrels unless you are in very corrosive environments of enjoy doing mag dump after mag dump the barrel will serve you well. |

Thanks for the info on the chamber being lined. I believe Wilson(not to be confused with Wilson Combat) makes the barrel for RRA. When I ordered my RRA years ago I had the option for the CMV 1/9 vs CL 1/8 barrel not knowing one way or the other I chose the CL 1/8 because honestly I thought it sounded cooler and my good friend I shot with at the time got the standard CMV barrel. How much difference is their between the two I could not find a measurable difference using match ammo in both. I have to give it to RRA they do use good quality barrels in the rifles they build just many are HEAVY! |
